Valentine's Day is less than a few days away, but why wait for a special date when you can impress that special someone everyday? Along with prestigious menswear designer Shan Keith, we have prepared a guide to create your own night out ready office outfits for every occasion!

The first step to making a good first impression is to feel confident. “The key to confidence is feeling good”, Keith says. “If you put a client in a look that they aren't used to wearing but you know it will look nice, it has the ability to change one's personality. If you look good then you feel good.”

But how can a man look good and feel confident on a date? In menswear, fit and good tailoring are the base in creating a successful date night outfit. For Keith, good tailoring means knowing exactly where to hem your garments: “Knowing exactly where the pant leg and shoe should meet and how one’s blazer and shirt should fit without having that ‘cat whisker’ effect.”

As a experienced menswear designer Keith encourages men to wear straight or skinny cut pants rather than boot cut pants since they enhance the male silhouette better. “The straight look has the ability to make ones legs look longer,” while boot cut pants make your legs look "sloppy".

Now that you know the basis, it’s time to dress to impress! First step is to decide on your date's location and then let the place dictate your outfit. You don’t need to buy a suit for every single place you decide to go, instead mix it up. “Men can always incorporate a suit into multiple looks,” Keith says. Here are 4 different outifts for different types of dates:

1. the DINNER DATE

Tasting a five star menu? Invest in what you wear to it and you'll also get a 5 star review on style as well. This is not the location to play around, stick to your dress shoes. What's on your feet is as important as the fit of your suit. Avoid shoes that will ruin your look for the night or worse, getting refused at the door.

2. the active date

If you decided to go on a more active date that involves a lot of standing and walking then dress your suit down. "The suit can be worn with a dress shoe or a nice tennis shoe for a more casual look," Shan says. How come everyone noticed Diane Kruger but completely ignored her date's versatile outfit!

3. brewery date

Did you know St. Louis has several local breweries and bars? To blend in with the different vibes in the area Shan recommends wearing a dress shirt with the suit pants and either wearing dress shoes or tennis shoes, depending on where you decide to go.

If you’re looking for something more unique then don’t be afraid to mix and match. “I have always been a fan of mixing and matching prints and patterns,” Keith says. “That's something that I will always do to as my signature!”
